On 20 September 2026, the Corporate World Cup (CWC) — the world’s first global corporate cricket tournament — was officially unveiled at a launch event in Gurugram. The initiative sets out to bring companies and their people together through cricket, at a scale corporate sport has not attempted before.
Sri Lankan cricket great and CWC Global Ambassador Sanath Jayasuriya joined CWC Founder Sachin Gupta, along with Agam Prabhat, CEO & Co-founder of Acredge and Zappio, and Jaideep Pratap, chartered accountant and investment banker, to present the vision: a competitive stage for professionals and organisations across cities, building up to the inaugural Corporate World Cup in July 2027.
The structure is simple to follow. 192 corporate teams will compete across 24 cities, eight in each. City qualifiers come first, and the top two teams from every city move on to the World Cup. Across the full journey, 864 matches are planned — one of the largest corporate sporting competitions ever put together.
Teams will play three formats: 11-overs-a-side, T20, and Test Twenty — a new 40-over format that pairs the pace of T20 with the thinking of longer cricket. Here, steady partnerships, well-timed bowling changes and smart field placements matter as much as big hitting, making it a fuller test of skill and teamwork.
At the launch, Jayasuriya spoke about cricket’s ability to bring people together whatever their background, and how the CWC carries that spirit into workplaces and businesses. Gupta described the tournament as a movement rather than a single event — a platform where professionals compete with pride while building connections across the corporate world.
Acredge came on board as title sponsor, and the launch was powered by Zappio, featured as the AI voice solutions partner across the event — from the stage backdrop and venue standees to the guest tables.
